im510sansa.PNGWelcome to the first of many SanDisk exclusive accessories. Altec Lansing is going to announce the inMotion iM510 single unit speaker for SanDisk Sansa music player very soon. They have a preview page ready on their site that is asking for your e-mail address for notification on the launch day. It will be part of the “Made for Sansa” program. Gee, I think I have heard of a similar program before. You know, from a company that’s creative and supports the Macintosh platform and everything.

Altec Lansing begins the introduction to the product with a genius line: “It’s so cool, it’s hot!” Um, a bit of advice to Altec Lansing - It’s great to be passionate about your product, but let’s skip on the oxymoronic-type phrases. There’s nothing too important to note. Specifications and features are unavailable and the paragraph doesn’t really provide anything.

The speakers are rectangular + blockish with support for Sansa e200 and c200 series. The docks are situated in the front, which is a fairly standard design. Don’t get me wrong, but I think SanDisk will have a problem as far as innovation is concerned. All of the companies that have signed on for the “Made for Sansa” program will probably just make a few changes here and there and re-release the products for the Sansa line. iPod got the exclusive attention, which unfortunately, SanDisk won’t get, at least not yet.

Availability and pricing is unknown, though you can always submit your e-mail address and find out yourself the day it’s launched.
