E3 is not dead, at least not according to a recent press release issued by CEA, the organizers of the world’s largest CE industry tradeshow, CES. After an unfortunate death of E3 as the most vocal gaming tradeshow in the world, CEA is looking to develop a gaming show of its own to compliment CES.

CEA, as tradeshow organizers, understand the need for a gaming tradeshow and have thus instilled a committee to conduct research to see whether or not there’s a potential for a new show. The individuals in charge of conducting market research are looking into venues in Las Vegas (where CES is currently held every year) and Los Angeles (where our beloved E3 used to take place). They already have a group of three companies willing to assist them in their efforts, and if everything goes well, we should expect a brand new gaming tradeshow, equivalent to E3, in spring 2007.

Of course nothing has been finalized, so I wouldn’t hold my breath on it. With that said, it would be great to see an organization like CEA develop a tradeshow targeted at the gaming and entertainment industry that’s as successful as CES.
