Yippee, Dell will finally offer a wide variety of Intel and AMD products, both in the form of desktop and notebook computers.

In a recent news report, an anonymous Dell Executive said, “This is not a big deal. In order to remain competitive, we have to make sure that we have [a wide] enough variety of products to meet the market demand.” Yeah, sure, we believe you undoubtedly. So the PC industry got competitive in 2006 and before that it was all rosy, eh? You could tell the executive knew what was coming to him, hence the statement, “This is not a big deal.” He must have gone through PR.

Heh, and look how AMD’s General Manager of Taiwanese Operations answers these questions, “This is a sensitive topic, though we won't deny the fact that we are working with Dell on desktop and notebook PCs.”

Here comes the thunderous announcement (drum roll, please): “Consumers will be able to buy AMD-based computers from Dell by the end of the year."

It’s about time Dell gave AMD some attention.
