applenike_001.PNGHere we go. Nike and Apple’s partnership have finally yielded a functional product for $29.00, which could take 4-5 weeks to ship. Apple is currently taking orders for the sport kit on its online store.

Those of you not familiar with this partnership, allow me to example. Basically, the idea is to create a combination of athletics and performance measurement/entertainment in a single device, hence the sport kit. You must have an iPod Nano for this to work. In the sport kit, you will get a wireless sensor which you will insert in the soles of Nike’s footwear (must be a special edition). Once you start running or walking, the sensor will transmit all information to the Nano, which in return will record all data. Nano will display all data in real time (time, distance, pace and calories burned) and later let you sync this information online where you can track milestones and your performance. To top it all, you can even challenge other players to a virtual race.

This partnership really is for people who take their exercising seriously and are focused about it. Otherwise, there’s no need to spend money on an iPod Nano, a pair of special Nike shoes and a sport kit. I love the competitiveness you can be a part of with this kit. There’s nothing like competition to get you motivated.
