dslite_002.PNGAfter rumors started emerging, Nintendo officially announced the launch date for the DS Lite. Available since March 2, 2006 in Japan, the DS Lite is expected to hit store shelves in the U.S. starting June 11 for $130.

Initially, the U.S. market will see the polar white version of the device, though there are three colors available in Japan. Nintendo expects to ship additional colors later on, but will launch the device with a single color.

The specifications suggest that DS Lite will feature a comparatively brighter screen to the original DS.
